Embroidery

My grandma taught me some crafting basics of embroidery, knitting, and crocheting. I had to take embroidery classes at elementary school, which disengaged me from crafting, contrary to the educational expectations. When we started the project with caladoras in Cartago, Valle del Cauca, back in 2014, I rediscovered my passion for textile making. Since then, I have had personal and academic connections with textiles. The clearest example of this connection is Artesanal Tecnológica, a collectivity co-founded with Tania Pérez-Bustos and Isabel González Arango. Artesanal Tecnológica is a feminist, intergenerational, and interdisciplinary sewing circle/laboratory where the participants discuss, analyze, criticize, and intervene in scenarios of knowledge dialogues between textile-making and digital technologies.
